International festival in honor of Gustav Mahler, Leipzig

At the age of 26 years, In 1886, Gustav Mahler became the second master chaplain Leipziger Stadttheater, alongside the legendary Arthur Nikisch. Thanks to outstanding performances of works, such as "Tannhäuser" by Richard Wagner, "Freischütz" di Carl Maria von Weber s "The Three Pintos" di Weber, the latter which he revised and completed, the young Mahler was a great success. For as little as two weeks Leipzig will become the center May cult of Mahler, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death (18 maggio 1911).
Shows "Via Regia", Görlitz

Through 5 themes, the exhibition aims to tell one of the main shopping streets of the Middle Ages, that stretched for more than 4.500 Km, from Santiago de Compostela in Spain to Kiev in Ukraine.
Bach Festival, Leipzig
10 -19 June 2011Many of the programs Leipziger Bachfeste, the festivities in honor of Bach in Leipzig. in 2011 will celebrate two key figures of the musical heritage, Franz Liszt, 200th anniversary of whose birth marks the 22 October, e Gustav Mahler, morto100 years ago in Vienna, exactly 18 May 1911. 850 years of viticulture in Saxony

175 years of steamboats in Saxony

In early July will start the actual birthday party, while the third weekend of August to coincide with the celebration of the city of Dresden, will take place on the feast of the steamboat "Dresdner Dampfschifffest".
