A Brescello the Museum of Don Camillo and Peppone
A Brescello in the province of Reggio Emilia is the “Peppone and Don Camillo Museum” which is housed in the Centro Cultural San Benedetto (the seat of the House of the People during the filming) and is owned by the municipality. The Museum was inaugurated 16 April 1989 and is the result of the efforts and enthusiasm of a small group of citizens Brescello, led by Mr. Bertoli Erminio. Today it is managed by Pro-Loco of the country.
rooms contain many relics of the Don Camillo film: the motion of Peppone, the dress of Don Camillo, the bicycles used by two at the end of Don Camillo and the burden. Peppone(after the mayor withdrew its parliamentary Roman adventure).
Inside you can see numerous photos taken during the production of films; original posters; reconstructions of the rectory of Don Camillo and the kitchen Peppone. You can also buy souvenirs, the famous books Guareschi, copies of videotapes of the various film (projected continuously rotating) elocal products, such as sparkling “Don Camillo Lambrusco”, the Spongata (sweets made with almonds and egg white) and fights (with almonds, pine nuts and raisins) the local “Award-winning and very famous Sponge - Luigi Benelli”.
The museum staff is made up of volunteers that, with an enthusiasm and a terrific preparation, can not wait to introduce visitors to the “country of Don Camillo” and work of Guareschi.
